Our Jz

‘Nilla wore me out this weekend with wonderful experiences.   Here is one of them:

cropped picture -1Let me just say, i am the one withOUT the obvious boobage (which is not a term i generally use, but it seems appropriate here.)  i do actually have some, just not in the picture.  And you will have to imagine the smiles on our faces.

It was just lovely to meet Jz.  We met in a restaurant in a mall bigger than any mall i’ve ever imagined, so i was feeling just a bit of “country girl” but that was fine.  And according to ‘Nilla, i have a “twang” so i guess “country girl” is appropriate.

{A TWANG!!  Did you ever hear such nonsense??  But i digress…}

Jz is just like her blog.  Self-deprecating funny, with a touch of acerbic.  She is complex.

i don’t think i can describe her in a way that does her justice, but i’m going to try.  If my women-friends were wines, ‘Nilla would be a soft white, with fruit and vanilla flavors (of course.)  Jz is a full-bodied red, with hints of plum and maybe a touch of oak.   i love both those types of wines, although i indulge in the white more often, and i appreciate the contrast immensely, so the evening was a delight for me.

If they were books, ‘Nilla would be Anne of Avonlea, which i adore, and Jz is Dorothy Sayers’ series with Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet, which i also adore, and which we actually talked about that night.  In fact, Jz reminds me a bit of Harriet, a compliment that she’ll appreciate.   If you haven’t read either of those series, i’m sorry… and if you can’t relate to the wine comparison… well, let me try another analogy.

Food.  ‘Nilla is cookies baking in the oven and bread rising on the counter.  Jz is an omelette with portabella mushrooms and Gruyère cheese.

i’m so glad i met Jz.  i like her immensely, and think you would too.

Being with them both was such a treat.  We talked and laughed and carried on until our server had to (politely) throw us out of the restaurant.  The only thing that could have made it better would have been if you had been there.

i start my next adventure today, which is work related, and likely to be exhausting, so you’ll have to wait til tomorrow to hear about ‘Nilla Master…

    OK, so now I’m hungry AND I want to stay home and break out “Strong Poison”…

    (and btw, you were all over that shoulder-bumping high! Good job!)

      No, no, no, i don’t actually HAVE a twang, ‘nilla just says that. You know how people who live in the northeast can be, while they’re talking about their “cah” for car and “baah” for bar and all that. Mmmhmmm. And then wanna talk about other people having twangs. Hmpf. 🙂

      But we did have fun!

    what a wonderful encapsulation of an evening of tentative beginnings, and delightful conversation, and reluctant endings…i had the bestest time with you here, and miss your presence at the other side of my table as we compare notes on OPB’s. 🙂 As to Jz and i? I think you did a phenomenal job describing her AND me. I am very much bread rising on the counter…and am tickled (ha ha) by the analogy.

    giant hugs as you start with your gig this morning!

    I love your comparisons. Hell, the whole post was great. It gave a great flavour as to who the three of you are. 🙂 Someday, maybe someday the lot of you can head out west. 🙂
