A Lazy Girl

That’s me, today.  Just plain lazy, and don’t care.

No blog post.  Haven’t answered email – email i WANT to answer, you understand.  Not some annoying email i don’t want to deal with, but interesting conversations with people i care about, where i’ve already half-formulated answers in my head and am just too lethargic to crank them out on the keyboard.

Ok, so i did a vanilla blog post for another blog, and some other stuff this morning, and helped a friend for a while, packing her house to move, but then i came home and took a nap, and since i got up, i’ve nibbled on all kinds of food {some of which is forbidden food} and played on Facebook, commenting and liking posts rather casually, sharing and moving on.

i answered comments here ~ that was pretty ambitious!

i deleted 15 comments in my spam folder, including one that started “grannies clits computer will not boot with usb stick…”  which i thought was probably code for something deeply meaningful, or the beginning of a Lawrence Ferlinghetti poem.  Do you remember him?  This:

Driving a cardboard automobile without a license
at the turn of the century
my father ran into my mother
on a fun-ride at Coney Island
having spied each other eating
in a French boardinghouse nearby
And having decided right there and then
that she was right for him entirely
he followed her into
the playland of that evening
where the headlong meeting
of their ephemeral flesh on wheels
hurtled them forever together

Could be this:

grannies clits computer

will not boot with usb stick

worn from use and misuse,

the decades of cum drying like soap scum

until all the efforts of all the sticks are

just so much random data, not enough

to wring a drop from the misshapen prune she has become…

No?  You’re not seeing it?  Ok, fine, i didn’t say it was good Ferlinghetti… hmpf.

Lazy, and i don’t care.   Tomorrow, i’m busy all day, and Monday and Tuesday too and you know, i woke up too early this morning – 3 a.m. and my eyes popped open,  The cats weren’t even stirring, it was just me, laying bolt wide awake.

Haven’t exercised, but i’m having knee issues, and probably need a break.  i walked 10 miles this week using my handy-dandy walking videos, and while that’s not a record, it’s not too shabby either, for me, anyhow.

So i’m writing today off.  Today, i’m a useless hag, and quite ok with it.  In fact, i think i’ll go lollygag on the couch for a while with a book.

i’ve been reading Feminism is for Everybody, by bell hooks, which is phenomenal.  Such a wise woman.  She says:

“As all advocates of feminist politics know most people do not understand sexism or if they do they think it is not a problem. Masses of people think that feminism is always and only about women seeking to be equal to men. And a huge majority of these folks think feminism is anti-male. Their misunderstanding of feminist politics reflects the reality that most folks learn about feminism from patriarchal mass media.”
― bell hooks

And then goes on to explain it in a lovely way that reminds me that it is not about equality with men, it’s about changing the structure of a system that is based on sexism and racism and classism and patriarchal power structures.  How cool is that?

So i’m off to enjoy my laziness now ~ besides, Sir just got home and i’m making coffee and going to hang out with Him.  i’ll be back, but maybe not tomorrow.  Take care.  ❤

So…you say THREE times that you’re fine with your “laziness/uselessness”…are you trying to convince yourself? I Think it’s FABULOUS that you have a moment OFF. EVERYONE needs time to recharge their batteries.

Your Ferlinghetti was fucking awesome! I love it!

Hope your laziness was NOT productive…simply there!

      Hey, Fiona,

Good point, my astute friend, there might have been a bit of self-brain-washing going on there! But i’m glad you liked my Ferlinghetti, and i promise you, i was not a bit productive that day!

      Hugs…

Thanks, Abby. i figure they’re probably more fun when they’re chosen, and not a bunch in a row. Hope you’re recuperating well…

well…I LOVED your poem. It was funny and sweet and very well done. so there. And good on you for being “lazy”…i think you were just percolating, myself. You have to sometimes sit and let things move about so they settle into the places they need to be.

I’m gonna be semi-lazy tomorrow. Breakfast with my BFF, a family obligation in the afternoon, and drumming at church for evening service (betcha didn’t know I LOVE drumming)…in between? long bouts of laying about. This will be my first day off since breaking my ankle. I’m going to soak up every moment of it. 🙂

Thanks, ‘Nilla, glad you liked my poem! 🙂

i hope you sucked up some rest while you could, but i’m pretty sure one of your lazy days is more like a normal day for me. Just saying….

And NO, i didn’t know you loved to drum! Me too!! Cool.
