May Is What?

It’s Masturbation month.    Yes.  And none of youall told me, it wasn’t on my calendar at all, thank goodness, i read it over at mick and Molly’s blog here.

THey’re having a Masturbate-A-Thon in Philadelphia.  WHY did no one tell me about this?  It’s a fundraiser.  NO, i’m not kidding… Read all about it right here.

{i keep wanting to spell it Masterbate, but no.  That’s not right.}

Here’s the rationale for the celebration:

Good Vibrations {a sex toy shop} began celebrating National Masturbation Month in 1995. Earlier that year, then-Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders was fired for saying that masturbation should be discussed as part of young people’s’ sex education. We were astounded. It was one of the most sensible things we’d ever heard a government official say — and it cost Elders her job!

We started National Masturbation Month to raise awareness, and because we wanted to highlight the importance of masturbation for nearly everyone: it’s safe, it’s healthy, it’s free, it’s pleasurable and it helps people get to know their bodies and their sexual responses. Of all the kinds of sex people can have, masturbation is the most universal and important, yet few people talk about it freely — worse, many people still feel it is “second best” or problematic in some way.

So are any of you celebrating Masturbation month?   Feel free to share your thoughts here…

As you can see, there is no Kinky Kastle post today, although i have the next chapter started, sitting in drafts.   So if any of you were thinking you’d be celebrating the month with that for inspiration, um, not today.  Sorry.
